Producer / Flame Artist / Colorist
Founded by Andre Basso in 2009, 9th Street Films is an NYC based creative studio serving both the filmmaking and advertising communities. On the advertising side, Andre has worked as a creative director & producer for iconic brands such as UNICEF, GSUSA, PFIZER, ROYAL BANK OF CANADA and MLB PLAYERS ASSOCIATION. On the filmmaking side, he has worked closely with notable independent filmmakers including Rhamin Bahrani, Mynette Louie, and recently with Producers Frank Hall Green and Tom Heller on Gonzo Girl, starring Willem Dafoe and directed by Patricia Arquette.
Recently, Sixth of June, a short doc he produced, made the finalist long-list for the 93rd Academy Awards. He’s currently in post-production on a comedy about American Politics, “Can’t Let It Go,” starring Mario Cantone and executive produced by academy award winning writer, James Ivory. Andre teaches courses in production and post-production and has taught at The Gotham Film & Media Institute, as recently as February 2020.
Cinematographer / Digital Imaging Technician
Matt Suter is a Cinematographer and DIT. His narrative credits as DIT include THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER, winner of Best Director at Sundance in 2018, and NANNY, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. His DIT clients include PELOTON, SPOTIFY, MORGAN STANLEY, PEPSICO, NETFLIX, and SHOWTIME.
As cinematographer, Matt has worked on numerous shorts and features, as well as corporate and industrial projects. His credits include NO MONSTERS IN BERLIN, a short film shot entirely on location in Berlin in cooperation with the Syrian refugee community. NMIB won Best Short at the NY Short Film Festival and won the Short Film Showcase at the Diversity in Cannes Film Festival. His feature film debut LAST NIGHT IN ROZZIE won numerous festival awards and was acquired for distribution by Gravitas Ventures in 2021.
Creative Interactive Director / Immersive Technologies
Johnny Jacques is the head of interactive and immersive reality technologies at 9th Street FIlms. Over the past 10 years, Johnny has worked as an award winning art director, developer, animator and trusted adviser for client and operational teams. Prior to 9th Street Films, he spent over 6 years creating augmented reality and mixed reality solutions for Shazam's brand partners and labels leading up to their 2018 acquisition by Apple.
In Jacques’ spare time, he can be found working on Game Development and spending time with his children. Keep a lookout for his Daddy & Daughter game “Milo,” coming out on Steam in 2020.
